The Borger, Texas plant became part of the Solvay Group’s Global Business Unit (GBU) Specialty Polymers with the purchase of the Ryton®PPS (polyphenylene sulphide) business from U.S.-based Chevron Phillips Chemical Company in early 2015.

The Ryton®PPS business has a strong share in the automotive sector, replacing metal parts to make cars lighter and more energy efficient. Other worldwide leading uses for PPS are in electronics where it enhances fire resistance of components, and in filter bags to extend their lifetime in reducing pollution at coal-fired power stations.

Breckenridge

The plant in Breckenridge is part of the Novecare global business unit and became affiliated with Solvay in 2013 when the Solvay group acquired Chemlogics in 2013. The Breckenridge site produces fracturing fluids and cementing chemicals for the Oil & Gas industry.

The Deer Park plant located in LaPorte, Texas has been part of the Solvay Group since 1979. The site produces hydrogen peroxide and high-purity peroxide and PCS. The plant in LaPorte, along with the Longview, Washington plant and worldwide affiliates, is the world’s leading producer of hydrogen peroxide and its derivatives.

Greenville

Greenville is part of Solvay’s Composite Materials global business unit. The site’s primary products are resins (epoxy, phenolic, bismaleimide, polyamides), woven fabrics and prepregs (unidirectional tape, fabric, roving, multi-ply and slit tape forms).

The Greenville plant produces advanced composite materials for the commercial and military aerospace markets, high-end sporting goods and industrial markets.

Houston

The Houston corporate office serves as the North American headquarters for the Peroxides, Soda Ash & Derivatives and Special Chemicals global business units as well as administrative functions. It is one of three corporate hubs (Cranbury, NJ and Alpharetta, GA) for Solvay in North America. Around 150 people are employed at the Greenway area offices in Houston, built in 2015.

Orange

  Orange-TX

The Orange plant, located on the border of Louisiana and Texas, became a part of the Solvay group in 2002, with Solvay’s acquisition of Ausimont. The site produces Halar®ECTFE, a product used to encapsulate photovoltaic cells on the Solar Impulse airplane, scheduled to fly around the world in 2015 fueled only by solar power. Solvay employees in Orange are thrilled to be such an important part of this solar adventure.

Pasadena

  Pasadena, Texas

The Pasadena, Texas plant opened in November of 2015 and operates a large-scale, "on pipe" alkoxylation unit. Situated in the integrated industrial campus of LyondellBasell’s Equistar Chemicals affiliate, the plant is supplied the key raw material ethylene oxide via pipeline, enhancing sustainability and surety of supply.  

Alkoxylates are used as emulsifiers, detergents and wetting agents and are the chemical foundation for a wide range of Solvay Novecare specialty surfactants. The on-pipe unit will ensure greater security of alkoxylate supply for North American customers.
